Doug Borror knows a thing or two about entrepreneurship. A visionary leader who understands what it takes to be successful, he is currently the CEO of Borror Properties, a single-source provider for all commercial real estate related services in the Columbus, Ohio area. With a family history in home building, land development and residential and commercial real estate, Doug is a real estate expert who is guiding Borror Properties as a leader in property marketing and information distribution for commercial real estate buyers and sellers.
Doug’s vast experience in construction and apartment management dates back to his childhood, “My dad would talk about his work at dinner, and I was always fascinated by it. I would go out with him to look at real estate or attend zoning hearings and became very interested in construction and real estate at a very young age”. After graduating from The Ohio State University, Doug began his career developing a number of successful business start-ups, including growing one real estate business from a $20 million dollar privately held company to a $600 million dollar publicly held company.
Doug founded Borror Properties in 2008 with Lori Steiner and says this business is his greatest accomplishment. “I am really proud of our Borror Properties business. We started from scratch in 2008, and while I have had a lot of success in a lot of different companies, this is the first business I have built from the ground up. I am proud of the what the team has accomplished and I am proud to walk in this office everyday”. The company started with the mission of providing real estate property management services and acquiring, finishing and selling residential real estate projects. In 2009, they added Peak Property Management to manage homeowner and condominium associations, and in 2012 added Truberry Custom Homes as well as expanded their brokerage into commercial real estate.
Doug is very hands-on in his business. He works closely with marketers, architects, and contractors to develop home and community designs that appeal to a wide range of target audiences. He is also out in the field, looking at properties and talking to prospective clients. But he can’t run a successful business alone; therefore, Doug has built a team of great leaders who all posses a positive attitude and strong work ethic. Each person on the Borror Properties team is “fast on our feet and opportunistic”, which is why Doug Borror’s leadership has remained consistent in the Central Ohio real estate community for more than 35 years.
