At Bat For Borror: Kaileigh Steiner, Regional Property Manager

What do you love most about working for Borror Properties?

This question has really taken a new meaning to me recently. What I love most about working for Borror Properties is the sense of family around the workplace. The work is hard, no doubt. Our company truly values people on a personal level, which makes the hardest days just as great. I enjoy the sincere appreciation I receive from not only my boss, but also the people I work with. A heartfelt “thanks” goes a long way!

What question do you get asked most often by clients?

What is covered in my Homeowners’ Association (HOA) dues? This is my favorite question – why you ask? This question allows me to open a dialogue with residents who may or may not be familiar with the Homeowners’ Association industry. I take pride in helping individuals understand the importance and benefits of deed restricted communities. I enjoy the financial aspects of how Associations operate, I like knowing how well the HOA is doing financially. Providing feedback too, offering insights to process improvements and challenges in the future.

What is your greatest accomplishment?

An estimated 63 million Americans live in 323,000 community associations and running a community association is like running a business. All that being said, becoming a qualified, board-certified CMCA (Certified Manager of Community Associations) was one of my greatest professional accomplishments. To further my professional pursuits, I also achieved the AMS (Association Management Specialist) designation to enhance my knowledge and expertise in the evolving HOA industry.

When you are not working, where will most people find you?

I find myself celebrating my one-year wedding anniversary. Along with my wonderful husband, I received a bonus of two profoundly talented and kindhearted stepson’s whose ages are seven and eleven. From sporting events “basketball-mom” to coordinating family vacations, one would find me spending quality time with my family — Or… curled up on the couch in my pajamas watching Netflix.

“Brandi comes to us with a wealth of knowledge in property management including multiple certifications and over 12 years of past experience.  This has allowed her to thrive with her management of homeowners and condominium owners associations.  Her awareness and understanding of the business allows her to be a truly valuable  resource to our organization, Boards, and homeowners.”

What do you love most about working for Borror Properties?

I love the people and the environment. Everyone here gives 110% at all times, and I really value that in a workplace. I also enjoy spending time with my coworkers. We all work extremely hard, but we have a lot of fun at the same time.

What question do you get asked most often by clients?

Clients frequently ask what I like about my job because there are definitely a lot of ups and downs. I usually tell people that I enjoy the challenge. In my line of work, no two days are the same, and at any moment, your entire plan for the day could change. While in the beginning that was difficult for me to adapt, I have grown to love it. It keeps me on my toes and keeps me thinking and learning all the time. I think it makes me better at my job each and every day.

What is your greatest accomplishment?

In my opinion, my greatest accomplishment so far was being president of my sorority. It taught me more about business than I ever could have imagined. I learned how to manage and work with difficult people for the betterment of the entire organization regardless of my personal feelings. It gave me a self-confidence that only standing up in front of 86 of your peers every week can give you. It taught me that image is everything, and that you are a direct representative of everything with which you are affiliated — whether it’s a business, a professional organization, or even your friends and family. I gained leadership skills that showed me how to give feedback, but more importantly, how to take feedback and listen to others to improve all of us as a whole. It developed my abilities in time management and organization that have helped me succeed in the real world. These skills have made me a stronger property manager because I am a better communicator and leader from this experience.

When you are not working, where will most people find you?

Most likely you will find me either hanging out with friends around the Short North or spending time with my family. I also love attending Ohio State Football, Blue Jackets, and Clippers games.

“After having interned for us beginning in 2009, we had high hopes that Kaileigh would one day join our team.  Now that she is here, she brings so much to our team everyday- fresh perspective, professionalism, rationality and attention to detail, and not to mention wonderful positive energy just to name a few.”
