Where to See the Sparks: Our Independence Day Roundup

In case you haven’t heard, we are big fans of Columbus and all of its celebrations, icons, teams and spirit. Independence Day is one of the days of the year where all of these cornerstones of Columbus come together. Here are some of our favorite places in Columbus and its surrounding areas to celebrate the home of the red, white and blue:

Short North

32nd Annual Do Dah Parade & Block Party

Doo Dah Parade

When: 10:00am – 10:00pm
Where: Beginning at Buttles Avenue
What:

  • Block Party
  • Parade

Why: To “Celebrate Liberty & Lunacy,” and “Exercise your First Amendment right, through humor and the craziest parade in history.”

Highlight: At 1:00pm, every single crazy soul belts the National Anthem.

Downtown

Red, White and BOOM!

Where: Downtown Columbus
What:

  • Independence Parade
  • Children’s Park
  • Taste of BOOM!
  • Fireworks

Highlight: The Independence parade has 70+ entries! 

Dublin

City of Dublin Independence Day Celebration

Dublin Ohio Independence Day

When: 8:00am – 10:00pm
Where: Various Locations; Dublin Coffman High School Stadium
What:

  • A Fishing Derby
  • Inflation Celebration
  • Dublin Wind Symphony Performance
  • Parade
  • Skyhoundz Hyperflite Canine Frisbee Competition
  • Evening concerts featuring Chris Jamison & John Fogerty *$5 admission*
  • Fireworks

Why: To celebrate Independence Day in beautiful and historic Dublin, Ohio!

Highlight: Don’t miss Grammy award-winning artist John Fogerty as he takes the main stage at 8:15pm.

Olentangy

LC Summer Bash & Fireworks

When: 8:00am – 10:30pm
Where: Olentangy Orange Middle School, Olentangy High School

What:

  • Freedom 4 Miler
  • Orange Township Parade
  • LC Summer Bash & Fireworks *$10 admission for kids, $20 for adults*

Highlight: Can’t make it to the fireworks display? They are still visible up to 10 miles from Olentangy High School and the musical simulcast will be live on Mix 107.9!

Powell

2015 Powell Fest

When: 5:00pm on June 26th – 11:00pm on June 27th
Where: Village Green Main Stage
What:

  • Live Music and Entertainment
  • Food
  • Fireworks

Why: To deliver “family friendly entertainment, amazing food and dazzling fireworks set to contemporary music”

Highlight: The Powell Fest features an impressive lineup of family-friendly entertainment and the event is entirely sponsored by businesses and community members.

Hilliard

Hilliard 4th of July Celebration

When: 10:00am — Dusk
Where: Franklin County Fairgrounds & Roger A. Reynolds Municipal Park
What:

  • Parade
  • Carnival
  • Live Entertainment

Why: To celebrate and enjoy live entertainment, rides and food!

Highlight: This free event features fun carnival rides for the kids to enjoy. (Adults – feel free to embrace your inner child, too!)
