10 Reasons You Should Move to Columbus, Ohio

1. Small town feel, big city appeal

There’s a reason Columbus is known as “The Biggest Small Town in America.” Everyone is friendly, it’s easy to get around, and residents are proud to live in Cbus. Columbus offers a small-town quality of life combined with most of the attributes of a large city.

2. Job opportunities abound

Central Ohio has a diverse job market from thriving small businesses to larger workplaces that are making moves to returning to in-person work. #NurseLife is good at Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center and many other hospitals in the area. CoverMyMeds is developing a brand new, 12-acre campus complete with public and private work spaces, a bar with local brewery taps, outdoor spaces, and pool and shuffleboard tables. And, Amazon recently announced it is looking to fill 2500 positions in Columbus.

3. Our rooftop bars will make you feel like you’re in a major city

It’s all about the views. Over the past couple of years Columbus has seen a growing number of rooftop bars opening their doors. Sipping on a cocktail overlooking the twinkling city below… it doesn’t get much better than that. Plus, some of our BORROR locations are adjacently located to the hottest rooftop bars in the city, so you can drink and be merry AND crash in your bed a few doors down.

OR…check out our communities The Beeker, 985 High, and 303 for your very own rooftop-in-the-city experience.

4. Columbusites know how to have a good time

Throughout Columbus, you can find unique entertainment every weekend in the summertime. Blues & Jazz, Pride, Columbus Arts Festival, Fashion Week, Quarter Horse Congress, Italian Festival, Com Fest, Oktoberfest, Slice of Columbus, Margarita & Mimosa Festival… the list goes on. If you can think of it, there’s probably a festival in Columbus for it.

And, in the winter, you can find marvelous light displays across the city in places like the Columbus Zoo and the Columbus Commons.

5. Escaping to nature is easy

Columbus offers an abundance of ways to connect with nature. The Metro Parks system includes 19 natural area parks with more than 230 miles of trails and over 27,700 acres of land. Downtown, you can find shade or bike along the Scioto River at The Scioto Mile, or catch a concert on the green at the Columbus Commons.

6. You can get anywhere in 15 minutes… literally

Any Columbus native will tell you, “you can get pretty much anywhere in 15 minutes.” With easy-to-navigate roads and connected Interstates, commuting is nothing like the bigger cities. Opting for public transportation instead? We have plenty of public transit options, including the COTA bus system, bike shares, ride shares and even scooters. And, most BORROR communities are situated in highly walkable areas.

7. Foodies unite

Perhaps the best representation of the diversity of food offerings in Columbus is in the Short North, home to a few of our communities. With casual brunch, fine dining, hearty comfort food, or relaxed, organic options – you won’t go hungry in Columbus whether you stay downtown or venture out to the suburbs.

8. Expansive city made up of unique neighborhoods

Speaking of venturing outside of downtown, the various neighborhoods that make up the fabric of Columbus certainly don’t lack character. Try a bite of Schnitzel at perhaps Columbus’ most famous restaurant, Schmidt’s, in German Village, or take a gander at the stunning architecture nestled in Victorian Village. Catch a Buckeyes game at The Shoe, or sip craft beer at one of the many local breweries in the up-and-coming art hub of Franklinton.

9. #CommitToBeFit

Health and fitness is a lifestyle in Columbus, and there are plenty of ways to reach your goals. Walkability encourages daily exercise, plentiful healthy restaurants and grocers make it easy to stay well-nourished, and you won’t have a hard time finding a gym or yoga studio that is just right for you.
