Enjoy Pet-Friendly Living at Borror Communities

Apartment communities, corporate offices join the trend toward dog-friendly policies

Finding an apartment property that can accommodate your favorite furry friend can be difficult. However, Borror’s residential communities not only accommodate dogs and cats but celebrate them with pet-friendly policies.

Borror offers a generous pet policy of up to two pets per apartment with no weight restrictions. And that open-door pet policy applies to every single apartment unit Borror manages.

Borror has long had pet-friendly rental policies, but as the pet population has increased in recent years the company has loosened weight restrictions, made every apartment pet-friendly and added more events for pets. In Borror’s market apartments, 50 percent of residents own at least one pet. According to a 2019 survey from the American Pet Products Association, 67 percent of U.S. households own a pet, up from 56 percent in the 1980s.

Borror properties offer residents a number of pet perks, including dog parks and pet waste stations with bag dispensers designed to keep living spaces clean for all residents, pet owners and the pet-free alike. Borror’s communities host events for residents and their pets, including an end-of-summer pool party for dogs and pet costume contests at Halloween.

Borror’s urban properties provide easy access to pet stores and some of the best parks in downtown Columbus, including Goodale Park, Italian Village Park, the Scioto Mile, and Bicentennial Park, all offering plenty of open spaces for pups to roam.

Additionally, Borror joins the ranks of a growing number of companies in Columbus in developing pet-friendly policies. Borror’s corporate office celebrates dog-friendly Fridays, allowing employees to bring in their furry friends for a fun play day. Borror established this policy because research shows that dog-friendly work environments can foster a healthy company culture and allow employees to better connect.

“We’ve found this to be true,” says Borror President Lori Steiner. “The overall effect is a more relaxed and fun workplace. Everyone looks forward to pet Fridays.”

Other Columbus-based companies have adopted similar policies. Red Roof Inn’s corporate offices participates in Take Your Dog to Work Day each year, while marketing firms such as Cement Marketing and Resource digital marketing agency allow staff to bring in pets year-round.

Pet owners at Borror’s conventional apartment properties are charged a $400 deposit and a monthly pet fee of $35 per month per pet. At Borror’s senior living facilities, residents can live with one pet weighing up to 80 pounds. Senior living residents pay a $300 pet deposit and no monthly fee.
