Greater Columbus Donut Roundup

National Donut Day is celebrated in the U.S. on the first Friday in June. This delicious holiday was inspired by Doughnut Day in 1938, when members of the Salvation Army provided donuts and coffee to service members during World War I. Celebrate by heading to one of the many donut shops in and around Greater Columbus! This list is a great place to start.

Guild House
624 N. High St., Columbus, OH, 43215
Cameron Mitchell’s new Short North restaurant, located inside the swanky Joseph hotel, offers an excellent seasonal Donut dessert. The flavors rotate, but you’ll always get a nice-sized pastry big enough to share. For spring, the Donut is a vanilla glazed filled with strawberry jam and topped with a biscotti crumble.

Destination Donuts
59 Spruce St., Columbus, OH 43215
Find “Donut Queen” Heather Morris’ innovative doughnut creations at the North Market. Morris uses locally sourced ingredients whenever possible to make her donuts, with flavor offerings changing daily. Flavors range from the fairly traditional (Vanilla Cream, Buckeye, Triple Chocolate) to the exotic (Raspberry Hibiscus, Triple Berry Cardamom, Thai Peanut).

Der Dutchman
Multiple locations
With five Ohio locations, including one in Plain City, Der Dutchman is the undisputed champion of Ohio Amish cooking. Meals here are a celebration of the seasonal bounty, and meant to be shared with family. At breakfast, enjoy scratch-made pastries including Apple Fritters, Jelly-Filled donuts, Long Johns, Twists or Crullers.

Hamburger Inn Diner
16 N. Sandusky St., Delaware, OH 43015
Located in Delaware, the famous Hamburger Inn Diner has been serving families since 1932. Along with serving traditional diner fare, the Inn doubles as a bakery with breads, pies, and handmade daily cinnamon rolls. Much like traditional donuts, these giant pastries are deep fried and coated in maple icing. Regular customers often order a dozen cinnamon rolls to go for breakfast through the week!

Jacquemin Farms
7437 Hyland Croy Rd., Plain City
The season begins at this family-owned Plain City farm in late spring with strawberry picking! Starting around the first week of June, head out for an afternoon in the Pick-Your-Own Strawberry Patch followed by a freshly made strawberry doughnut. During July and August, the farm sells home-grown fruits and vegetables from the farm market. Fall means Pick-Your-Own Pumpkins, plus fresh pumpkin donuts and apple cider. Follow Jacquemin Farms on Facebook for daily updates on what’s available!

Krispy Kreme
Multiple locations
Krispy Kreme serves donuts of all varieties, but they’re most famous for the Original Glazed donuts. Whenever you spot the Hot Light turned on outside, you’ll find piping hot, just-out-of-the-fryer Original Glazed inside. On National Donut Day, stop in to any U.S. Krispy Kreme location for a free donut of any variety! Columbus boasts three locations: on the East Side at 6990 E. Broad St., in Dublin at 3690 W. Dublin-Granville Rd., and in Polaris at 1021 Polaris Pkwy.

Buckeye Donuts
1998 N High St., Columbus, OH
Buckeye Donuts is located in the heart of Ohio State University and serves all varieties of donuts, 24 hours a day. Using only quality ingredients they make their donuts from scratch each day along with breakfast items, coffee, gyros and salad. Available for catering.

DK Diner
1715 W 3rd Ave, Columbus, OH
DK Diner, also known as Donut Kitchen, started their menu only serving donuts. Today DK serves breakfast, lunch and dinner along with a variety of donuts including Chocolate, Cinnamon Sugar Cake, Long Johns and Old Fashion Sour Creme.
